Itanagar’s Biri Takar further etched his name on the international para badminton stage with an outstanding performance at the BWF Czechia Para Badminton International 2026 held in Prague, Czech Republic. The Arunachal Pradesh shuttler concluded the prestigious Grade 2 event with two gold medals and one bronze, underlining his status as one of India’s most promising para athletes.
Takar’s campaign was highlighted by his triumph in the men’s singles SL4 category, where he produced a gritty performance in the final against World No. 16 Nils Boening of Germany, prevailing 21-13, 20-22, 21-10. The tightly contested three-set battle showcased Takar’s composure and tactical maturity under pressure.
Earlier in the singles draw, Takar set the tone for his golden run by overcoming six-time European Games medallist Rickard Nilsson in the quarterfinals. He recovered from a first-set loss to win 17-21, 21-15, 21-17, demonstrating resilience and competitive grit.
In addition to his singles success, Takar teamed up in the men’s doubles SL3-SU5 category to clinch his second gold medal of the tournament. Although specific match scores for the doubles final were not detailed in available reports, the victory added to India’s strong showing in Prague.
