In a unique initiative to boost fan engagement, the Badminton Association of India (BAI) has announced its first-ever nationwide mascot design contest ahead of the prestigious BWF World Championships 2026.
The competition invites creative minds from across the country to design an official mascot that will represent the global tournament, scheduled to be held in New Delhi from August 17 to 23.
This initiative marks a significant step in involving fans directly in the branding of one of badminton’s biggest events. The selected mascot will serve as the visual identity of the championship, symbolising India’s culture, energy, and passion for the sport.
The 2026 edition is particularly significant as it brings the World Championships back to India after nearly two decades, reinforcing the country’s growing stature in international badminton.
By launching this contest, BAI aims to connect with younger audiences, encourage creativity, and build nationwide excitement leading up to the tournament. The move also reflects a broader push to make major sporting events more inclusive and fan-driven.
With global stars set to compete and India hosting the spotlight, the mascot contest adds a vibrant, participatory dimension to what promises to be a landmark sporting event.
