Los Angeles, USA: The top-seeded UCLA Bruins delivered a commanding wire-to-wire victory over South Carolina, winning 79-51 in the 2026 NCAA women’s basketball national championship game on April 5-6 in Phoenix.
Gabriela Jaquez led the way with 21 points and 10 rebounds, while Lauren Betts added a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds. The Bruins jumped out to a 21-10 lead after the first quarter and never looked back, pulling starters with over three minutes remaining as they cruised to the program’s first NCAA-era national title.
UCLA finished the season with a stellar 37-1 record, capping a dominant campaign built around a core of experienced seniors and transfers. The win avenged last year’s Final Four loss and marked one of the most lopsided championship games in recent history, with a 28-point margin.
