The 31-year-old led from the start with his trademark aggressive style and unleashed a powerful final surge to hold off a late challenge from his training partner, Filip Nowacki (59.39s), who took silver. Young talent Max Morgan, just 18, claimed bronze in 59.56 seconds.
Peaty described the race as a perfect opportunity to push himself against the next generation of British breaststrokers. “It’s great to race these young guys. They keep me on my toes,” he said, while also expressing confidence in the depth of talent coming through for the future of the event.
The victory secures Peaty’s spot at the 2026 European Swimming Championships and sends a strong message as he builds toward the 2026 Commonwealth Games and the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
