New Delhi witnessed a historic moment on Monday as Indian athlete and adventurer Mann Sharma officially kicked off Mann vs Burpees — the world’s first-ever Burpee Marathon — at the Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) Stadium.
This extraordinary challenge, recognised by the World Book of Records, will see Mann attempt to complete a full marathon distance of 42.195 kilometres through burpee broad jumps over the next ten days — a feat never attempted before.
The event was flagged off by Union Sports Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, and is organised by Question Associates in collaboration with Fit India and officially supported by the Sports Authority of India (SAI).
Pushing Human Limits Like Never Before
The scale of the challenge is staggering. The existing world record for burpee broad jumps stands at just 5.1 kilometres. Mann’s attempt will push that boundary nearly eight times farther, requiring 106 laps of a 400-metre track — all while living on-site at the stadium for the entire duration.
The World Book of Records has described Mann vs Burpees as one of the most ambitious endurance feats ever undertaken, blending athleticism, purpose, and humanitarian vision.
Mandaviya: ‘A Testament to Youth, Purpose, and Compassion’
Speaking at the flag-off, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya praised Mann’s determination and vision:
“Mann Sharma is not just attempting a world record — he is redefining what determination and purpose look like. His challenge embodies the spirit of our nation’s youth: resilient, fearless, and driven by compassion. Through Mann vs Burpees, he proves that sport is not just about competition but about transformation. The nation stands united behind him as he takes on this historic journey, one burpee at a time, for the dreams and education of countless children.”
For a Greater Cause: Every Burpee Counts
Beyond endurance, Mann vs Burpees carries a powerful social mission. The event aims to raise funds and awareness for The One Friend NGO, which supports education and empowerment for underprivileged children across India.
Ahead of his first lap, Mann Sharma said:
“This is the moment we’ve been building toward. Mann vs Burpees isn’t just about endurance — it’s about proving that no dream is too big when your ‘why’ is strong enough. Every burpee I do carries the hope of a child who deserves a better future.”
A Journey Built on Resilience and Purpose
Mann Sharma’s story is one of relentless grit and compassion. Trained at elite football academies in Italy and Spain, including the Paolo Rossi Academy and Real Madrid Foundation Camp, Mann faced major setbacks due to injury and the pandemic — yet transformed those challenges into opportunities to serve others.
His past endurance missions speak volumes:
- Ran 100 km in 24 hours to support the homeless
- Completed 29 hours of burpees for children’s education
- Walked 205 km from Delhi to Agra to spread awareness
- Climbed Bali’s three highest peaks to raise funds for suicide prevention
Each effort reflects his belief that endurance can drive impact — and Mann vs Burpees may well be his most inspiring challenge yet.
