A Global Marathon with Record Participation
The 8th edition of the Techcombank Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon drew nearly 23,000 runners from around the world. In a standout performance, Xtep-sponsored athletes swept the podiums in both the men’s and women’s full marathon categories, reinforcing the brand’s growing influence in the region’s competitive running scene.
Men’s Podium: Ethiopian Power, Vietnamese Promise
In the men’s full marathon, Ethiopian runners claimed the top three positions. Ayalew Seleshi Simaneh finished first with a time of 02:23:12, followed closely by Wondale Melsew Baye and Kebede Leta Girma.
Vietnamese runner Bá Văn Hân delivered an impressive performance under the local Xtep banner, securing a strong podium spot and showcasing the rising capabilities of domestic athletes.
Women’s Race: A Homegrown Champion Leads
Vietnam’s own Phạm Thị Hồng Lệ, also a Xtep brand ambassador, dominated the women’s full marathon with a winning time of 02:48:07. Her victory was celebrated as a proud moment for the local running community. Ethiopian athletes Mohamed Yenework Husen and Zega Mestu Sirabzu completed the podium, reflecting the event’s global competition level.
