Bryson DeChambeau has dismissed reports suggesting he is in talks to return to the PGA Tour, calling the claims “completely untrue” amid growing uncertainty around LIV Golf’s future.
Speculation over DeChambeau’s future intensified after Saudi Arabia confirmed it will withdraw financial backing for LIV Golf at the end of the 2026 season. The move has raised serious questions about the league’s stability and its ability to retain top players.
Golfer rejects exit rumours
Reports had claimed that DeChambeau’s representatives were exploring a possible return to the PGA Tour. However, the two-time US Open champion strongly denied those suggestions.
He insisted he remains committed to LIV Golf and is focused on helping the format succeed. DeChambeau added that he believes team-based golf has a place in the sport and wants to contribute to its global growth.
LIV future under scrutiny
LIV Golf, which launched in 2022, created a major divide in professional golf by attracting leading players with lucrative contracts. DeChambeau was among the high-profile names to join the circuit, alongside stars like Jon Rahm and Cameron Smith.
Earlier this year, the PGA Tour offered a pathway for players to return, with Brooks Koepka among those who rejoined the traditional circuit. Despite that, DeChambeau chose to stay with LIV.
Focus on long-term vision
The 32-year-old emphasised that efforts are underway to strengthen LIV’s structure, including plans to develop junior golf events and academies linked to teams. He also hinted at upcoming initiatives aimed at expanding the league’s reach.
With his current contract set to expire at the end of the season, DeChambeau is reportedly in discussions over a new deal. He suggested that as long as LIV Golf continues, he is willing to find a way to remain part of the project.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding funding and the league’s future direction, DeChambeau made it clear his immediate priority is to help LIV Golf evolve and remain competitive in the global golfing landscape.
