New Delhi Set to Welcome the World: BWF World Championships Return to India After 17 Years
India is gearing up to host one of the biggest events in international badminton as the 2026 BWF World Championships heads to New Delhi from August 17 to August 23. The tournament, which will take place at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, marks the return of the World Championships to Indian soil after a gap of 17 years, with the country last hosting the event in Hyderabad in 2009.
The championship will be the 30th edition of the BWF World Championships and is expected to feature the world’s top shuttlers across all five disciplines—men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles.
