Mumbai: India have been forced into a late change to their squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, with fast bowler Mohammed Siraj named as a replacement for Harshit Rana, who has been ruled out due to injury.
The Event Technical Committee of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup approved Siraj’s inclusion after Rana sustained a right knee injury during India’s warm-up match against South Africa on February 4.
Siraj, one of India’s most experienced pacers, brings a wealth of international experience, having represented the country in 45 Tests, 50 ODIs and 16 T20 Internationals. His return is expected to significantly strengthen India’s pace attack ahead of the tournament opener.
India begin their T20 World Cup campaign against USA on Saturday at the Wankhede Stadium.
The Suryakumar Yadav-led side has been drawn in Group A, alongside Pakistan, Namibia, Netherlands and USA.
The defending champions will be aiming to create history by becoming the first team to successfully defend the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title, and also the first to lift the trophy on home soil.
Updated India Squad:
Suryakumar Yadav (c), Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Varun Chakaravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Rinku Singh.
