Milwaukee Bucks have been knocked out of playoff contention for the first time in 10 years after a heavy 127-95 defeat to the San Antonio Spurs.
The loss capped a disappointing stretch for Milwaukee, who have now lost nine of their last 11 games.
Injury blow proves costly
The Bucks were once again without Giannis Antetokounmpo, who missed his sixth straight game due to a knee injury.
Head coach Doc Rivers dismissed claims that the star forward was fit but being rested deliberately.
“He’s progressing, but he’s not healthy,” Rivers clarified.
Spurs continue red-hot streak
San Antonio extended their winning run to eight games, staying firmly in the race for the Western Conference’s top seed.
They are currently chasing the defending champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder, with just a handful of games remaining in the regular season.
Wembanyama leads dominant display
Victor Wembanyama starred once again, finishing with 23 points and 15 rebounds.
He was supported by Stephon Castle, who registered a triple-double with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.
Seven Spurs players reached double figures in a commanding team performance.
What next for Bucks?
Milwaukee’s absence from the playoffs marks a significant fall after years of consistency.
With the play-in tournament set to begin on 14 April, attention now shifts to rebuilding and planning for the next season.
