Bhubaneswar: The Kalinga Stadium Tennis Center in Bhubaneswar was the site of a vibrant inter-school sports quiz competition, organized collaboratively by Sports Science India (SSI) and the Odisha Quiz Association.
The event saw enthusiastic participation, drawing nearly 50 teams from various local schools. The competition was expertly hosted by the renowned Quiz Master, Kamal Rathi, who challenged the young participants with a series of tough questions, ensuring a high-stakes battle of sports trivia. The day began with a rigorous preliminary round, which served to select the best minds, with only six teams successfully qualifying for the high-pressure final round.
In a display of sharp knowledge and quick thinking, the team from Loyola School emerged victorious, clinching the championship title and securing a handsome cash prize of ₹10,000. Following closely, the team from DAV CDA demonstrated impressive quizzing skills to secure the second position, walking away with a cash prize of ₹5,000.
Post-victory, Loyola School’s winners, Abhijvala Mohanty and Om Saha, shared their excitement, noting that the competition was an excellent platform for sports enthusiasts and that they thoroughly enjoyed tackling the “tricky” questions.
The event gained additional stature with the presence of notable sports personalities, including shot-put legend O.P. Singh Karhana and members of the Ice Hockey team. These guests not only motivated the participants but also delivered a crucial message: they encouraged the students to embrace sports from a young age for overall growth and emphasized the vast professional opportunities available in the sports sector beyond playing, such as in media, management, and sports science, urging them to consider these alternative career paths.
This competition successfully highlighted the deep connection between academic rigor and the world of sports.
