In some exciting shooting news from Dehradun, former world champion and Olympian Anish Bhanwala has been on fire, securing back-to-back victories in the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol (Men) event at the National Selection Trials 3&4.
Meanwhile, Narmada Nithin of Tamil Nadu truly shone, claiming the top spot in the 10m Air Rifle Women’s competition. Narmada displayed incredible composure in the final, shooting a 253.7 to narrowly beat ISSF World Cup Final silver medalist Sonam Uttam Maskar by a margin of 1.7 points. Delhi’s Rajshree Anilkumar rounded out the top three. Earlier, Narmada had qualified in sixth place in a highly competitive field that included World Championship medalist Mehuli Ghosh, who topped the qualification round.
In the men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol, Anish Bhanwala continued his dominant form, clinching his second consecutive final win of the trials with a score of 30. He faced strong competition from Navy’s Pradeep Singh Shekhawat, who took silver with 29, and his Haryana teammate Adarsh Singh, who secured third with 23 shots. Anish also showcased his consistency by topping the T4 qualification round, making it a double win for him there as well.
The trials are still ongoing, with more finals scheduled for today, Saturday, June 28, 2025, including the 10m Air Rifle Women T4, 25m Pistol Women T4, and 50m Rifle 3 Positions Men T3. It’s shaping up to be an exciting selection process for India’s top shooters.
