Navi Mumbai: India’s historic 52-run victory over South Africa in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 final at DY Patil Stadium didn’t just thrill fans—it drew accolades from cricketing legends, global icons, and national leaders.

Virat Kohli Hails Team India’s Historic Feat

Legendary batsman Virat Kohli took to Instagram immediately after the win, praising the Women in Blue for their “hard work over many years” and calling the victory an inspiration for future generations of girls in India. “The girls have created history… They deserve all the applause and a big congratulations to Harman and the whole team. Jai Hind,” Kohli wrote.

PM Modi Calls It a Moment of National Pride

Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the triumph as “a spectacular win” and lauded the players for displaying remarkable skill, composure, and team spirit. He noted that the victory would inspire future generations of athletes and cement a golden era for Indian women’s cricket.

Former Stars Join the Celebration

Cricket legends and former stars shared their excitement:

Virender Sehwag: “Champions! Har chauke har wicket, apne Jajbe se poore desh ka dil jeet liya! Proud of our World Champion girls.”

AB de Villiers: Congratulated both teams, praising the growth of women’s cricket globally.

Former Men in Blue captain Rohit Sharma attended the final and was visibly emotional as India lifted the trophy. Fans across the nation joined the celebrations online and offline, sharing their admiration for the team’s grit and determination.
