Jemimah Rodrigues etched her name in India’s history books after helping her side reach the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 final at Australia’s expense. The versatile batter got along with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur as India chased down a target of 339 in Navi Mumbai. Rodrigues smashed the Aussies with a knock of 127* as India reached their 3rd World Cup final and ended 7-time winners Australia’s run.
A clutch effort and key partnerships
Sent to bat in at number three, Rodrigues was at the crease early with India losing Shafali Verma (13/1). The former put up a 43-run stand alongside Smriti Mandhana (24). What followed next was a stunning 167-run stand between Rodrigues and Kaur. This stand helped India stay afloat. The likes of Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh and Amanjot Kaur then supported Rodrigues as India got the job done with nine balls to spare. Centurion Rodrigues ended unscathed on 127* from 134 balls, hitting 14 fours.
7th Indian batter with a World Cup hundred
Rodrigues entered an elite list among Indian batters at the World Cup. As per ESPNcricinfo, she is the 7th Indian batter to hammer a hundred in the global event. Rodrigues has joined the likes of Mandhana, Kaur, Mithali Raj, Pratika Rawal, PG Raut and M Kamini.
2nd World Cup centurion for India in semis/final
As per Cricbuzz, Rodrigues became just the second centurion for India in Women’s World Cup semis or the final after Kaur’s 171* in 2017. Kaur’s century had come against Australia in the semi-final. Her effort helped India beat the Aussies as they reached the final.
4th-highest partnership for India in Women’s World Cup
Rodrigues and Kaur’s massive 167-run stand is now the 4th-highest for India in ICC Women’s World Cup history (any wicket). Besides, this is India’s highest partnership tally for the 3rd wicket. The duo broke a 25-year-old record of 151 runs between C Kaul and Anjum Chopra.
Rodrigues and Kaur also posted India’s highest partnership against Australia in the global event (any wicket). They broke Raut and Mithali’s 157-run effort against Australia in Bristol, 2017.
2nd-highest individual score for India at the World Cup
Rodrigues’ 127* is now the 2nd-highest score by an Indian batter at the World Cup. Kaur’s 171* in the 2017 edition remains the best effort.
