PKL 2025 Playoffs Explained: New Format, Key Matches and Path to Final

After 108 matches in the league stage, the 2025 Pro Kabaddi League season moves into its playoffs, featuring eight of the 12 teams. The league has revamped the playoff system, adding more matches and opportunities for teams finishing lower in the standings to reach the final.

Top Teams Battle in Qualifier 1

The top two teams, Dabang Delhi and Puneri Paltan, face off in Qualifier 1 on October 27. The winner earns a direct spot in the final on October 31. The loser, however, still has a chance to reach the final by winning Qualifier 2 against the team emerging from the lower-seeded bracket.

Play-in and Eliminators for Lower Seeds

Teams finishing 3rd to 8th compete in a knockout bracket. Play-in matches on October 25 feature Haryana Steelers vs Jaipur Pink Panthers and U Mumba vs Patna Pirates. Winners advance to Eliminator 1 on October 26, while losers are eliminated. Meanwhile, 3rd and 4th placed teams, Bengaluru Bulls and Telugu Titans, compete in a Mini-Qualifier on the same day.

Eliminator 2, on October 27, pits the winner of Eliminator 1 against the loser of the Mini-Qualifier. The winner moves to Eliminator 3 on October 28, facing the Mini-Qualifier victor. This match decides who will play the loser of Qualifier 1 in Qualifier 2 on October 29 for the remaining spot in the final.

The Road to the Final

The playoff structure gives multiple teams a pathway to the final, rewarding consistency in the league stage while also allowing lower-ranked teams to make a run. The final showdown on October 31 will feature the winner of Qualifier 1 against the winner of Qualifier 2, crowning the champion of PKL 12.

This new format promises high-stakes matches every day, keeping fans on the edge of their seats as teams battle for kabaddi supremacy.
