Bhubaneswar: Marquez’s Triumph: MotoGP’s Most Inspiring Comeback
Marc Marquez claimed his seventh MotoGP World Championship at the Japanese Grand Prix, ending a dramatic 2184-day wait since his last title in 2019. His campaign with Ducati marked a fairytale return to the top, overcoming four seasons plagued by injury, five arm surgeries, and a change of both team and manufacturer. Marquez’s remarkable season saw him clinch the crown with five rounds left, securing the title after finishing second in Motegi behind teammate Francesco Bagnaia. In the last six years, Marquez joined three teams, broke or equaled multiple records (including most wins in a row for Ducati and most “doubles” in a single season), and became only the sixth rider in history to take premier-class titles with two different factories. With 73 premier-class wins and 541 championship points this season, his journey and resilience have set a new standard in the sport. The emotional Spanish rider buried his face in his hands as he crossed the line, then told the world:
“I made a big mistake coming back too soon from surgery… but I fought, and won again! Now I’m at peace.”
