Double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker shot a strong 588 to qualify for the finals in the 25m sports pistol event at the Shooting World Cup in Munich on Wednesday, but narrowly missed out on a podium finish, ending in sixth place. She fell just one point short of the eventual bronze medallist, Korea’s Yang Jiin.
China’s Sun Yujie continued her golden streak, claiming her third consecutive World Cup title by defeating Korea’s Oh Yejin 38-36 in the final. The 20-year-old had already clinched gold in Buenos Aires and Lima earlier this season.
In the men’s 50m rifle 3-position event, Olympian Chain Singh impressed in qualification with a score of 592 but had to settle for seventh in the final. Norway’s Jon-Hermann Hegg secured the gold, helping his team rise to second in the overall medals tally, just behind China, who leads with three golds.
Earlier on Tuesday, Varun Tomar also made it to the finals of the men’s air pistol event but finished sixth. So far, India’s only medal at the event remains the bronze won by Elavenil Valarivan in the women’s air rifle.
