Carlos Alcaraz is set to return from a right wrist injury and defend his US Open title, ending a four-month absence that forced him to miss the French Open and Wimbledon.
The seven-time Grand Slam champion confirmed his return on social media, posting, “Here we go,” alongside a picture featuring the US Open logo.
Alcaraz has been sidelined since April after withdrawing from the Barcelona Open following his opening-round victory. Despite his extended absence, the Spaniard remains ranked No. 2 in the world.
Alcaraz, Sinner Set For Another Chapter
Alcaraz won his second US Open title last year after defeating Jannik Sinner in the final. He then captured the Australian Open and began this season with a 22-3 record before his wrist injury disrupted his campaign.
The 23-year-old had been practising ahead of the hard-court swing but withdrew from the Cincinnati Open, raising doubts over whether he would return without sufficient match preparation.
World No. 1 Sinner has also been sidelined, having withdrawn from Cincinnati with a right knee injury after winning Wimbledon. He is also targeting a return in New York.
Their injury concerns add further intrigue to this year’s final Grand Slam, after the two rivals met in the finals of the French Open and Wimbledon in 2025.
Alcaraz won his maiden Grand Slam at the 2022 US Open, becoming the youngest man to reach No. 1 in the ATP rankings at age 19.
