Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will chair the two-day BRICS Youth and Sports Ministers’ Meeting beginning Saturday in Visakhapatnam, with member countries set to discuss youth empowerment, indigenous sports and sports manufacturing.
Ministers and Heads of Delegation from all 11 BRICS member countries will participate in the engagements aimed at strengthening cooperation in youth affairs and sports.
Youth Ministers To Discuss Development
The BRICS Youth Ministers’ Meeting on Saturday will focus on youth development and empowerment, with discussions covering education, skills, entrepreneurship and sustainable development.
The meeting is expected to conclude with the adoption of the BRICS Youth Ministerial Joint Declaration and the BRICS Youth Cooperation Framework.
Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs Raksha Khadse will also participate in the proceedings, while senior Sports Ministry officials, including Secretary Hari Ranjan Rao, will be associated with the meetings.
Sports Meet To Focus On Indigenous Disciplines
The Sports Ministers’ Meeting on Sunday will focus on strengthening cooperation among BRICS nations in sports.
Key areas of discussion will include traditional and indigenous sports, sports technology and sports manufacturing. The meeting will culminate in the adoption of a joint declaration focusing on these areas.
Heads of Delegation from Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates are scheduled to make statements during the meeting.
The programme will also feature the BRICS Friendship Cycling Event, adding a sporting engagement to the ministerial proceedings.
The Visakhapatnam meetings are expected to provide a platform for BRICS members to expand collaboration in sports and youth development while promoting traditional sporting disciplines and strengthening the sports manufacturing ecosystem.
