Kirstie Gordon is set to make her long-awaited return to international cricket for Scotland women’s cricket team after being named in Scotland’s squad for the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup.
The 28-year-old spinner has not represented Scotland since 2017 after leaving to pursue a full-time professional career in England’s domestic system.
Born in Aberdeenshire, Gordon previously made 60 appearances for Scotland before switching focus to English cricket, where she later represented England women’s cricket team on the international stage.
Gordon returns after injury setback
Gordon featured in five matches during the 2018 Women’s T20 World Cup for England and also played a Test against Australia women’s cricket team in 2019.
She recommitted her future to Scotland in December 2025 but had been sidelined in recent months because of a back injury.
Now fully recovered, the left-arm spinner has earned a place in Scotland’s World Cup squad and could make her first appearance for the national side in nearly nine years.
Bryce to lead Scotland at World Cup
Kathryn Bryce will captain the squad as Scotland prepare for a challenging group-stage campaign.
Scotland have made three changes from the squad that featured in the World Cup qualifiers in Nepal earlier this year.
Young seamers Gabriella Fontenla and Maisie Maceira have both been included alongside Gordon.
Meanwhile, Niamh Robertson-Jack, Mollie Parker and Hannah Rainey miss out after injury concerns.
Tough group awaits Scotland
Before the World Cup begins, Scotland will take part in a tri-series against the Netherlands and Bangladesh as part of their preparations.
Their tournament campaign starts against Ireland women’s cricket team at Old Trafford in Manchester on 13 June.
Scotland are placed in a difficult Group B alongside England, West Indies, New Zealand and Sri Lanka.
