SINGAPORE : Fireballs GC star Josele Ballester capped a memorable week at the Singapore Open presented by The Financial Times with a tied-third finish after an impressive final round on The Serapong at Sentosa Golf Club. Ballester’s 5-under-par 66 on Sunday was among the day’s best scores, but ultimately left him seven shots behind eventual champion Jeongwoo Ham of Korea.
Ballester, one of LIV Golf’s rising young talents, produced six birdies against a lone bogey in his final round, demonstrating both consistency and aggression as he climbed the leaderboard. His effort earned him a share of third alongside Thailand’s Jazz Janewattananond (68) and Japan’s Tomohiro Ishizaka (70).
Despite not securing the title, Ballester’s performance was a highlight for the LIV contingent in Singapore. He finished well clear of most of his peers, with Caleb Surratt (Legion XIII) and Björn Hellgren (wild card) tying for ninth, Luis Masaveu securing 12th, and Peter Uihlein (RangeGoats GC) finishing 17th.
The victory went to Ham, who closed with a 3-under 68 to finish 16 under par, two shots ahead of Australian Cameron John. Both Ham and John earned coveted spots in this year’s Open Championship at Royal Birkdale as the top two finishers not otherwise exempt in the event’s Open Qualifying Series.
Ballester’s result adds to a growing body of strong showings for the 22-year-old, reinforcing his status as a player with major potential on both the Asian Tour and in the broader LIV Golf ecosystem.
