U.S. President Donald Trump has enthusiastically promoted a planned UFC mixed martial arts event to be held on the South Lawn of the White House as part of the United States’ 250th anniversary celebrations in 2026.
In a video announcement outlining the broader Freedom 250 festivities, Trump described the fight as a landmark spectacle and gave a candid shout-out to UFC CEO Dana White, calling him “great” and highlighting his role in bringing the event together.
Trump said the event would feature top champion fighters and be one of the most memorable parts of the anniversary celebrations, framing it as a patriotic and globally significant combat sports showcase. The announcement notes that the UFC fight will be a unique celebration, blending elite sport with American pageantry.
The UFC event is set to take place around Flag Day on June 14, 2026, which also coincides with Trump’s birthday, and will sit alongside other major Freedom 250 events like parades, a national state fair, and fireworks displays. Dana White is expected to host and help organise the fight, while the broader celebration emphasises national pride and historic commemoration.
Trump’s long-standing support for the UFC and his connection with White are prominent in the promotion — underscoring their shared enthusiasm for the sport as part of this once-in-a-lifetime celebration.
