India batter Rajat Patidar has been named captain of the Central Zone squad for the upcoming Duleep Trophy, with Rinku Singh appointed as his deputy for the prestigious domestic tournament.
The Duleep Trophy will be held at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru from August 23 to September 10, marking the start of India’s domestic red-ball season.
Saransh Jain Likely To Miss Opening Matches
Off-spinner Saransh Jain has also been included in the squad but is expected to miss at least the opening phase of the tournament as he is currently part of India’s Test squad for the Sri Lanka tour.
Jain is in contention to make his Test debut in the opening Test at Galle after Washington Sundar was ruled out of the first match. The second Test will be played in Colombo from August 23.
