India’s rising badminton star Shriyanshi Valishetty secured a silver medal at the Baoji China Masters 2026 after finishing runner-up in the women’s singles final of the BWF Super 100 tournament in Baoji, China.
The young Indian shuttler went down to local favourite An Qi Yuan in the summit clash, losing 14-21, 6-21 at the Baoji City Gymnasium on Sunday.
Despite the defeat in the final, Shriyanshi’s run to the title clash marked another significant breakthrough in her promising career on the international circuit. The 19-year-old produced several strong performances during the tournament, including a major semifinal victory over reigning junior world champion Xu Wen Jing of China.
Her semifinal triumph was particularly noteworthy as she became the first Indian women’s singles player to defeat Xu Wen Jing in international competition.
Seeded third in the tournament, Shriyanshi entered the competition as one of India’s top medal hopes and justified expectations with consistent displays throughout the week.
The silver medal performance is expected to further boost Shriyanshi’s confidence and world ranking as she continues to emerge as one of India’s brightest young badminton talents.
