Fenerbahce head coach Jose Mourinho has responded to growing speculation linking him with a sensational return to Real Madrid, revealing that the Spanish club contacted his representative rather than speaking directly with him.
Mourinho addressed the rumours after reports suggested Real Madrid were exploring managerial options ahead of next season amid uncertainty surrounding the club’s future plans.
The Portuguese tactician, however, clarified that he has not personally held talks with the Madrid hierarchy and remains focused on his current responsibilities.
Mourinho previously managed Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013, winning the La Liga title, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup during a successful spell at the Santiago Bernabeu. His time at the club was also marked by intense rivalries and high-profile clashes in Spanish football.
The 63-year-old remains one of football’s most decorated managers, having enjoyed success with clubs including Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Manchester United and Roma.
Speculation around Real Madrid’s managerial future has intensified in recent weeks as the club evaluates long-term plans following another demanding season across domestic and European competitions.
Despite the rumours, Mourinho stopped short of confirming any formal negotiations, leaving uncertainty over whether a second spell in Madrid could materialise in the future.
