NEW YORK: The Detroit Red Wings delivered a strong all-round performance to defeat the Buffalo Sabres 5-2, using a dominant first period to take firm control of the game.
Detroit made a fast start, scoring three times in the opening period to put Buffalo under immediate pressure. Alex DeBrincat opened the scoring early, before Lucas Raymond and Marco Kasper added quick goals to give the visitors a commanding lead.
Buffalo responded in the second period with improved intensity, and Tage Thompson pulled one back to keep the contest alive. However, Detroit remained composed and continued to create chances.
In the final period, Jacob Bernard-Docker extended the lead, while Rasmus Dahlin briefly gave Buffalo hope with a goal of his own. Any chance of a comeback was ended when Patrick Kane scored an empty-net goal to seal the win.
DeBrincat stood out with a goal and two assists, playing a key role in Detroit’s attacking display. The result strengthens Detroit’s position in the standings, while Buffalo continue to struggle for consistency despite showing flashes of promise.
