The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board convened on March 26 to assess progress on its “Fit for the Future” initiative, a wide-ranging review aimed at strengthening and modernising the Olympic Movement in the years ahead.

Led by IOC President Kirsty Coventry, the discussions focused on evaluating current challenges and identifying opportunities to ensure the long-term sustainability and relevance of global sport. The initiative is designed to address evolving demands across governance, athlete support, and the broader sporting ecosystem.

The meeting, held remotely, forms part of an ongoing strategic process that seeks to adapt the Olympic framework to a rapidly changing global landscape. Officials emphasised the importance of innovation, efficiency and inclusivity as central pillars of the reform agenda, with the goal of keeping the Olympic Movement resilient and forward-looking.

Media representatives were invited to engage with the outcomes of the meeting through a virtual press conference, where updates on the discussions and next steps were shared. The IOC reiterated its commitment to transparency and continued dialogue as the review process progresses.

As the organisation responsible for overseeing the Olympic Games and supporting sport worldwide, the IOC has increasingly focused on aligning its operations with future demands, including technological advancements and shifting audience expectations.

The “Fit for the Future” initiative is expected to remain a key priority in the coming months, shaping policy decisions and guiding the evolution of the Olympic Movement as it prepares for the next generation of global sporting events.
