Kolkata: East Bengal FC delivered a stunning performance to thrash arch-rivals Mohammedan Sporting Club 7–0 in a one-sided Kolkata derby in the Indian Super League 2025–26 season on Monday, scripting history with their biggest victory margin in the fixture.
The emphatic triumph marked the largest victory margin in history between the two sides and also equalled the joint-biggest win in ISL history, matching FC Goa’s 7–0 rout of Mumbai City FC in 2015. The result lifted East Bengal to fourth in the standings with 11 points from six matches, while Mohammedan remained near the bottom, yet to open their account after five games.

Defender Anwar Ali starred with a brace and was named Player of the Match, while Youssef Ezzejjari also struck twice — both from the penalty spot. Captain Saúl Crespo, PV Vishnu and Nandha Kumar added to the rout.
East Bengal seized control early when Anwar unleashed a long-range strike in the sixth minute to open the scoring. Ezzejjari doubled the lead from the spot in the 14th minute after a foul inside the box, before Crespo converted another penalty in the 38th minute following a second booking for Mohammedan’s Joseph Lalmuanawma, which reduced the visitors to 10 men.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with Ezzejjari converting his second penalty in the 54th minute. Vishnu added a fifth in the 75th minute, before Anwar grabbed his second four minutes later. Kumar completed the demolition in stoppage time to cap a memorable derby night.
Despite brief attempts to respond, Mohammedan struggled to cope with East Bengal’s relentless attacking pressure, and the result now stands as the most dominant Kolkata derby in ISL history — a statement victory that boosts East Bengal’s playoff ambitions.
