BCCI Announces IPL 2026 Start Date
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially confirmed that the 2026 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will begin on March 28, 2026. The upcoming season will mark the 19th edition of the tournament and is expected to run until May 31, 2026, bringing nearly two months of high-intensity T20 cricket.
The announcement has already generated excitement among cricket fans as franchises prepare for another competitive season of the world’s most popular T20 league.
Opening Match Likely In Bengaluru
Reports suggest that the opening match of IPL 2026 could take place at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. As per IPL tradition, the defending champions are likely to play the first game of the season.
Bengaluru is also expected to host some of the most important matches of the tournament, including the final and possibly other playoff fixtures.
League Stage And Playoff Schedule
The IPL 2026 league stage is expected to run from March 28 to May 24, followed by the playoff stage beginning around May 26. The grand final is scheduled to take place on May 31, which will bring the tournament to an exciting conclusion.
The competition will once again follow the familiar IPL structure with league matches leading into the knockout playoffs.
