Riyadh, Saudi Arabia : The long-awaited heavyweight clash between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua has gained renewed momentum, with reports indicating that the bout is being lined up as part of a Saudi-backed mega event in 2026 under the banner of Riyadh Season.
For years, the all-British showdown has remained one of boxing’s most talked-about “what-ifs,” with negotiations repeatedly stalling despite both fighters dominating the heavyweight division at different points in their careers. The latest developments suggest that Saudi Arabia’s growing influence in global boxing could finally bring the blockbuster fight to fruition.
According to the report, Fury and Joshua are being positioned as the main attraction of a major Riyadh Season card in 2026. Both fighters may feature in separate bouts before eventually facing each other, building anticipation for what would be one of the biggest non-title heavyweight fights in recent history.
Tyson Fury announced his retirement in January 2025 following back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk, but has since hinted at a possible return to the ring. Anthony Joshua, meanwhile, is rebuilding after a knockout loss to Daniel Dubois and is scheduled to face Jake Paul on December 19 at the Kaseya Center in Miami.
While no world titles would be at stake, the proposed bout carries enormous commercial and sporting significance, promising to finally settle a rivalry that has loomed over the heavyweight division for nearly a decade.
If finalized, the Fury-Joshua clash would stand as another landmark event in Saudi Arabia’s expanding portfolio of elite global sporting spectacles.
