Crystal Palace are closing in on the signing of Brennan Johnson, with decisive talks scheduled between the forward and manager Oliver Glasner on Thursday.
A £35m fee has already been agreed with Tottenham, and there is growing confidence that the move will be completed, subject to the outcome of the discussions. Palace are awaiting final approval from the player before progressing the deal.
Key meeting ahead
The talks are expected to focus on Johnson’s potential role in Glasner’s system, as well as the club’s short- and long-term ambitions. Palace want clarity that all parties share the same vision before completing the transfer.
If the meeting proves positive, Johnson is likely to finalise the move in the coming days.
Top January target
The 24-year-old Wales international is Palace’s primary target for the January transfer window, with the club eager to secure his arrival early. Data shared by BBC Sport last month indicated Tottenham were open to selling the winger, who was their top scorer last season with 18 goals.
Tottenham future uncertain
Despite his strong individual campaign last year, including scoring the winning goal in Tottenham’s Europa League final victory over Manchester United in Bilbao, Johnson is not considered part of manager Thomas Frank’s long-term plans, according to BBC Sport.
