Bhubaneshwar – India is preparing to compete at the World Weightlifting Championships 2025 in Norway with a 14-member squad, seven men and seven women. The team will be led by Olympic medalist and former World Champion, Mirabai Chanu.

Mirabai Chanu, aged 31, is considered India’s strongest medal hopeful. She is an Olympic medalist, a former World Champion (winning gold in the 48kg category in Anaheim in 2017), and a two-time World Championships medalist (winning silver in the 49kg category in Bogota in 2022). She recently secured a gold medal at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships after the Paris 2024 Olympics.
