Pakistan cricket has once again found itself under the spotlight after reports emerged of growing tension inside the national team dressing room following the side’s disappointing Test defeat to Bangladesh.
According to multiple reports, frustration boiled over after the match as Pakistan captain Shan Masood allegedly confronted senior pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi regarding the bowling unit’s lack of pace and inability to create pressure.
Sources claimed Shan expressed concern over the team’s ineffective fast bowling attack, particularly comparing Pakistan’s pace output with Bangladesh quick Nahid Rana, who consistently bowled at speeds close to 145 kph during the match.
Reports further suggested the discussion escalated into a heated exchange between Shan and Afridi inside the dressing room after the defeat.
Pakistan’s loss has intensified scrutiny on the team’s recent performances, especially after repeated struggles in Test cricket despite possessing an experienced pace attack led by Afridi.
Shaheen Afridi, widely regarded as one of Pakistan’s premier fast bowlers, has been a key figure in the national side across formats and currently serves as the ODI captain of the team.
The reported dressing-room unrest has added to concerns surrounding the overall atmosphere within Pakistan cricket, which has experienced frequent leadership changes, inconsistent performances and off-field controversies in recent years.
Pakistan’s bowling attack came under severe criticism after failing to consistently trouble Bangladesh’s batting lineup during crucial stages of the Test match.
So far, neither the Pakistan Cricket Board nor the players involved have officially commented on the reported altercation.
The latest episode is expected to further increase pressure on the Pakistan team management ahead of upcoming international assignments as questions continue to grow over team unity and on-field performances.
