FC Barcelona have opened talks with Newcastle United over a possible move for Anthony Gordon.
The England international is also attracting strong interest from Bayern Munich following an impressive campaign in which he scored 17 goals across all competitions.
Barcelona exploring attacking options
Barcelona are believed to be searching for reinforcements in attack despite ongoing financial restrictions.
The Catalan club reportedly plans to fund transfers through player sales and sees Gordon as one of several targets for coach Hansi Flick.
Barcelona are also monitoring Julian Alvarez and Joao Pedro, while they still hold the option to sign Marcus Rashford permanently after his loan spell from Manchester United.
Newcastle set high asking price
Newcastle are understood to value Gordon at more than £70 million, with the winger under contract until 2030.
Chief executive David Hopkinson previously stated the club would only allow departures on their own terms.
However, after finishing 12th in the Premier League, Newcastle are expected to reshape parts of their squad this summer.
Gordon’s future became a major talking point after he was left on the bench for the final four matches of the season.
Farewell signs grow stronger
Following Newcastle’s final-day defeat to Fulham FC, travelling supporters sang Gordon’s name in scenes that appeared emotional.
Manager Eddie Howe refused to confirm whether the winger had played his final match for the club, saying it was impossible to predict what could happen during the transfer window.
Gordon is now expected to join the England squad ahead of the upcoming World Cup.
