Smriti Mandhana’s Third World Cup Century by the Numbers

Indian women’s cricket team opener Smriti Mandhana recorded several feats during her knock of 109 in Match 24 of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 on Thursday, October 23. India came out all guns blazing against New Zealand in a crunch contest being held in Navi Mumbai. Alongside Pratika Rawal, the southpaw shared a record-breaking 212-run stand for the opening wicket.

After Mandhana perished for 109 runs off 95 balls in the 34th over, Rawal also got to her ton. She ended up managing 122 off 134 balls, adding another 76-run stand alongside Jemimah Rodrigues for the 2nd wicket.

With rain then interrupting the match, India ended up scoring 340/3 in 49 overs. New Zealand need 325 runs to win from 44 overs with a revised target into play.

Here we bring out the records attained by Mandhana with her solid knock of 109.

Joint-most tons for India in ICC Women’s World Cup
Mandhana recorded her third ICC Women’s World Cup hundred. This is now the joint-most for India Women alongside current skipper Harmanpreet Kaur. Mandhana owns 890 World Cup runs at an average of 42.38. She went past former Indian skipper Mithali Raj, who struck 2 World Cup hundreds.
2nd-most hundreds in Women’s ODIs
Mandhana hit a blazing 109 from 95 balls with 10 fours and 4 sixes. Notably, this is now her 14th century in Women’s ODIs. As per ESPNcricinfo, Mandhana’s tally of 14 tons is second only to Meg Lanning (15). The two are followed by Bates (13), Tammy Beaumont (12) and Nat Sciver-Brunt (10). 
Joint-most hundreds in a calendar year
Mandhana has been in crunch form with the bat in 2025. She has 1259 runs from 20 Women’s ODI matches at 62.95. Notably, this was her 5th century this calendar year. This is the now the joint-most for anyone in Women’s ODIs in a calendar year. She equalled South Africa’s Tazmin Brits.
Most sixes in a calendar year in Women’s ODIs
As mentioned, Mandhana hammered 4 sixes in this match against New Zealand. By doing so, Mandhana now owns the most sixes in a calendar year. She has gone past Lizelle Lee sum of 28 sixes for South Africa in 2017. As per Cricbuzz, Deandra Dottin (2013), Chloe Tryon (2017) and Chamari Athapaththu (2023) are joint-third in this list with 21 each. Overall, the dashing Indian opener now has 73 maximums in Women’s ODIs.
Run-machine – Mandhana makes these records too

Mandhana has registered the most runs by an opener in Women’s ODIs. With this knock of 109, she went past Suzie Bates, who has 5088 runs. Mandhana owns 5194 runs as an opener in the format.

Another runs record attained by Mandhana is that she has surpassed 2500 runs in Women’s ODIs on home soil. She averages 48.41 in this regard.
