Brazil have officially extended Carlo Ancelotti’s contract as national team head coach until the 2030 FIFA World Cup, underlining their confidence in the veteran Italian ahead of the 2026 tournament.
The announcement was confirmed by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), which described the extension as a major step in rebuilding the Seleção into a dominant force once again.
Brazil Show Massive Faith In Ancelotti
Ancelotti only took charge of Brazil in 2025 after leaving Real Madrid, but the CBF has already decided to secure his future for the long term.
The 66-year-old has overseen Brazil’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and remains central to the federation’s plans to restore the nation’s global dominance.
CBF president Samir Xaud called the extension a “historic day” and said the federation wants to continue building a stronger and more competitive structure around the national team.
Ancelotti Hungry For More Success
Reacting to the extension, Ancelotti said his journey with Brazil still feels unfinished.
The former AC Milan, Chelsea and Real Madrid manager said he quickly understood the emotional connection Brazilians have with football and remains determined to guide the country back to the top of world football.
Ancelotti has won league titles in all five major European leagues and lifted the UEFA Champions League a record five times as a coach, but managing Brazil marks his first full-time international job.
Focus Shifts To 2026 World Cup
The contract extension arrives just weeks before the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Brazil have been placed in Group C alongside Morocco, Haiti and Scotland.
Questions still remain over Neymar’s fitness and final squad selection, although Ancelotti recently insisted that performances and physical condition would determine every call-up.
Pressure To End World Cup Drought
Brazil remain the most successful nation in World Cup history with five titles, but they have not lifted the trophy since 2002.
The federation believes Ancelotti’s calm leadership and vast experience can finally help end that long wait.
With the new deal now confirmed, the Italian manager will have a full World Cup cycle beyond 2026 to shape the future of Brazilian football.
