HAFJELL, Norway: Olympic champion Lucas Pinheiro Braathen secured the 2025-26 FIS Alpine World Cup giant slalom title for Brazil on March 24, 2026, winning the final race of the discipline in Hafjell.
The Norway-born Brazilian protected his first-run lead to finish 0.58 seconds ahead of Switzerland’s Loïc Meillard, with Norway’s Atle Lie McGrath placing third. Racing on the slope where he grew up, Pinheiro Braathen claimed his second giant slalom win of the season and Brazil’s first-ever Alpine World Cup crystal globe.
The result ended Marco Odermatt’s hopes of retaining the title. Pinheiro Braathen, who previously won the slalom title in 2023 while competing for Norway, celebrated a historic achievement for Brazilian skiing.
