The women’s 100m at the 2026 Diamond League meet in Silesia promises fireworks as Julien Alfred and Melissa Jefferson-Wooden renew one of track’s fiercest rivalries.
Alfred, the Olympic gold medallist from Paris 2024, enters the race chasing a third consecutive Diamond League title, having dominated the circuit in 2024 and 2025. But Jefferson-Wooden, the reigning world champion, has emerged as her biggest challenger after a sensational 2025 season with multiple Diamond League wins and global gold in Tokyo.
Their recent battles have been electrifying. The American edged Alfred at the Prefontaine Classic (10.75 to 10.77) and later stormed to victory in Silesia with a stunning 10.66 seconds, equalling the meet record set by Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.
Jefferson-Wooden still remembers that race vividly, saying, “one of the best days of my season… the atmosphere… you can feel the energy.” Alfred, meanwhile, has made her intent clear: “I have high aspirations… to present the best version of myself.”
With both athletes regularly clocking sub-10.70 times and sharing Olympic and world titles between them, Silesia could once again decide who truly rules women’s sprinting.
