Nottingham Forest Sack Sean Dyche After Wolves Draw

Nottingham: Nottingham Forest have sacked head coach Sean Dyche following their goalless draw against bottom-placed Wolves, the Premier League club confirmed on Wednesday.

Dyche becomes Forest’s third managerial casualty this season after Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou were both dismissed earlier in the campaign.

A club statement read: “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as head coach. We would like to thank Sean and his staff for their efforts during their time at the club and we wish them the best of luck for the future. We will be making no further comment at this time.”

Forest currently sit 17th in the Premier League table, just three points above the relegation zone, after managing only two wins in their last 10 league matches. The team also suffered an FA Cup exit to Championship side Wrexham during that run.

Owner Evangelos Marinakis, who previously had a public fallout with Nuno before his departure, was present at the City Ground on Wednesday. Speaking after the match, Dyche appeared resigned to the possibility of his exit.

“The owner has been fair to me, without a shadow of a doubt,” Dyche said. “If anyone chooses to change in football now, that’s their decision. That’s just the reality of it.”

Dyche, a Nottingham native and former trainee at the club, took charge on October 21. Assisted by former Forest players Ian Woan and Steve Stone, he enjoyed a promising start, beating Porto in his first game and later securing an impressive 3-0 victory at Liverpool. However, results dipped sharply in recent weeks.

Forest had finished seventh under Nuno last season, narrowly missing out on a Champions League spot but qualifying for European football for the first time since 1995-96. Despite signing a new three-year deal in June 2025, Nuno was dismissed in September following a breakdown in his relationship with Marinakis.

Postecoglou replaced him but lasted just 40 days, departing after a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea.
With survival now the priority, Forest face yet another managerial rebuild as they look to steer clear of relegation in a turbulent campaign.
