Indian Super League action on Thursday saw East Bengal FC and FC Goa play out a hard-fought 0-0 draw at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata. Despite several attacking moves and chances created by both sides, neither team managed to break the deadlock.
The home side started brightly and tried to put early pressure on the Goa defence. East Bengal’s attacking trio of Youssef Ezzejjari, Bipin Singh, and Miguel Figueira combined well in the final third, but their efforts lacked the finishing touch. One of the best opportunities came in the first half when Bipin floated a cross into the box, but Ezzejjari’s attempt sailed over the bar, allowing the visitors to escape.
FC Goa also threatened at times through the pace of Dejan Drazic and the creativity of their midfielders. In the 39th minute, Goa came closest to scoring when a powerful effort struck the crossbar, leaving the East Bengal defence relieved as the ball bounced away.
The second half saw both teams pushing for a breakthrough. East Bengal introduced fresh legs with substitutions such as PV Vishnu, hoping to unlock the Goa defence. However, FC Goa remained compact at the back and limited clear chances. Late attempts from both teams failed to produce the decisive goal as time ran out.
After 90 minutes of intense football, the match ended with the final score: East Bengal FC 0-0 FC Goa. The draw means FC Goa move to 8 points, placing them among the top teams in the standings, while East Bengal climb to 7 points, staying close behind in the league race.
Though the scoreboard remained unchanged, the match delivered plenty of drama, with both teams showing attacking intent but ultimately settling for a share of the spoils in this closely contested ISL encounter.
