Harare: India and England are set to face each other in the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026 final on Friday, with both sides arriving unbeaten after dominant campaigns.
The summit clash at the Harare Sports Club will see two of the tournament’s most consistent teams battle for ultimate glory.
For most teenagers, life revolves around classrooms and exams. For these young cricketers, it has been about handling pressure, expectation, and national pride.
After weeks of intense competition involving more than a dozen teams, the tournament has been narrowed down to one final contest — a last dance between two sides that have found ways to win every challenge thrown at them.
Both India and England have been flawless throughout the competition. They have dominated weaker opponents, held their nerve in tight situations, and passed every test without a single defeat. Their identical form heading into the final underlines just how evenly matched the contest promises to be.
England’s journey to the final has been powered by a strong top order and disciplined bowling. Ben Mayes has been their standout batter, sitting just one run short of 400 for the tournament, highlighted by a blistering 191 and two half-centuries.
Captain Thomas Rew rose to the occasion in the semifinal, producing a commanding 110 under pressure to steer England past a formidable Australian side by 27 runs.
With the ball, England have operated as a unit.
Manny Lumsden leads the attack with 15 wickets, including an impressive 5/17, while Ralphie Albert and Sebastian Morgan have delivered crucial breakthroughs whenever momentum threatened to shift. Apart from hosts Zimbabwe, every team England have faced has been bowled out, reflecting their bowling depth.
India, on the other hand, have relied on collective strength rather than individual brilliance alone. Before the semifinal, no opponent had crossed the 200-run mark against them, as their bowlers consistently applied pressure. Henil Patel, R.S. Ambrish, and Khilan A. Patel formed the core of that dominance.
The semifinal against Afghanistan tested India in a different way. Conceding 310 for the first time in the tournament, India were pushed out of their comfort zone. However, D. Deepesh and Kanishk Chouhan stepped up with timely wickets, and the batting unit responded with composure. Aaron George anchored the chase with a superb 115, while Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continued his explosive form, leading India’s run charts with three fifties and a tournament-high 15 sixes.
Contributions from Abhigyan Kundu and Vihaan Malhotra ensured stability through the middle order.

History favours India. The two sides have met nine times at the Under-19 World Cup, with India holding a 7–2 head-to-head advantage. Their only previous final meeting came in 2022, which India won. This final also marks India’s sixth consecutive appearance in an Under-19 World Cup final, underlining their sustained dominance at this level.
However, finals often ignore past records. England arrive with confidence after overcoming Australia, while India bring the calm assurance of a side accustomed to big occasions. Neither team has relied on luck; both have earned their place through consistent performances.
With two unbeaten sides and contrasting strengths on display, all that remains is one final test. When the first ball is bowled in Harare, reputation will matter less than execution, and only one team will walk away as champions.
