BHUBANESWAR: Chess.com’s Titled Tuesday March 25 edition went to GM Zhamsaran Tsydypov, who blazed to 9.5/11 for his maiden win in the popular online event. The 27-year-old Siberian, seeded mid-pack, toppled pre-event favorite IM Levy Rozman in round 5 with a slick Sicilian Najdorf sacrifice.
Tsydypov’s highlight: round 9 vs. GM Matthias Bluebaum, queen trap on move 18. He dropped just 1.5 points, tiebreaking GM Daniel Naroditsky on Buchholz. “Consistency key in blitz,” Tsydypov noted in winner chat. Rozman, GothamChess creator, took third at 9/11.
Field of 987 featured 50 GMs; $1,000 top prize. Tsydypov, FIDE 2700+, eyes Candidates prep. Next event March 29.
