In a proud moment for Indian cricket, stands named after legendary cricketers Yuvraj Singh and Harmanpreet Kaur were officially unveiled at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh.
The inauguration took place just ahead of the second T20 International between India and South Africa, adding a celebratory touch to the high-profile match.
Yuvraj Singh: Celebrated for his match-winning performances as the Player of the Tournament in India’s 2011 ODI World Cup triumph, and for his pivotal role in the 2007 T20 World Cup victory.
Harmanpreet Kaur: Recognized for captaining India to their historic maiden ICC Women’s ODI World Cup title. With this tribute, she becomes only the third Indian woman cricketer to have a stadium stand named after her, joining Jhulan Goswami and Mithali Raj.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led the felicitation ceremony, joined by senior Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) officials and several former cricketers.
The stadium also continues to honour other Punjabi greats, including Harbhajan Singh, who already has a stand named after him.
The PCA’s gesture marks a significant recognition of two of India’s most influential cricketing figures—celebrating their achievements and inspiring future generations.
