37th Sub Junior National Badminton Championship: Tanvi, Swati–Nimisha secure semifinal spots for Odisha

Odisha’s Tanvi Patri storms into semis in U-15 & U-17 Girls Singles; Swati–Nimisha enter U-15 Girls Doubles semifinals

37th Sub Junior National Badminton Championship: Tanvi, Swati–Nimisha secure semifinal spots for Odisha

The semifinal line-up across all categories has been finalized on Day 4 of the 37th Sub Junior National Badminton Championship, being held at the Dalmia Bharat Gopichand Badminton High Performance Centre (Shuttle), Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar.

Odisha’s rising badminton star Tanvi Patri delivered an outstanding performance, securing semifinal berths in both the U-15 and U-17 Girls Singles categories.

In the U-15 Girls Singles quarterfinal, Tanvi defeated Uttar Pradesh’s Agrima Singh in straight games 21–14, 21–14 to advance to the semifinals. Telangana’s Avani Vikram Govind, Hamsini Chandram, and Punjab’s Inayat Gulati also entered the semis with impressive wins.

In the U-17 Girls Singles, Tanvi continued her dominant run, registering another straight-game win over Kerala’s Hitha Maria Jose by 21–15, 21–12. Tamil Nadu’s Diksha S.R. and Delhi’s Rishika Nandi also secured semifinal spots.

Meanwhile, Odisha celebrated another success as the U-15 Girls Doubles pair of Swati Nayak and Nimisha Ojha defeated Karnataka duo Shreya Kandivilla and Sri Nagalakshmi P in a thrilling contest 22–20, 14–21, 21–11, advancing to the semifinals. Tamil Nadu’s Nayonika A. & Dhanya S.J. also booked their place by beating Andhra Pradesh–Haryana pair Trisitha & Joel Rana.

In the U-15 Boys Singles, Telangana’s Srichetan Sourya Samala stunned top seed Wazir Singh of Punjab with a tough 21–19, 21–23, 21–18 victory. Karnataka’s Pushkar Sai, Delhi’s Harshit Khatri, and Rajasthan’s Anshuman Chowdhury also progressed to the semifinals.

The U-17 Boys Singles saw top seed Jagsher Singh Khangura defeat Karnataka’s Pranav M 21–14, 21–17. Assam’s Bornil Akash Chengmai, Punjab’s Biraj Sharma, and Maharashtra’s Dev Ruprelia completed the semifinal lineup.

Speaking on the upcoming schedule, Odisha State Badminton Association Secretary and Organising Committee Secretary Nilin Kumar informed that all semifinal matches will be played on December 5, and the finals will take place on December 6
