Rohit Sharma Becomes ODI Six-Hitting King, Breaks Shahid Afridi’s Record

India’s first ODI against South Africa at Ranchi witnessed a historic double milestone for Indian cricket.

Rohit Sharma becomes ODI six-hitting king: Former India captain Rohit Sharma broke Shahid Afridi’s record of 351 ODI sixes by hitting three sixes during his 57-run innings, which also included 5 fours, before being dismissed lbw by Marco Jansen. With this, Rohit now holds the record for the most sixes in ODI cricket history, cementing his status as one of the most explosive limited-overs batsmen ever.

Rohit-Kohli surpass Tendulkar-Dravid: In the same match, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli stitched together a 100-run partnership, helping India build a strong platform. This partnership also marked a historic milestone: the duo surpassed the legendary Sachin Tendulkar-Rahul Dravid record for the most international matches played together by an Indian pair. Tendulkar and Dravid had featured in 391 matches together; Rohit and Kohli have now set a new record.

After Rohit’s dismissal, Virat Kohli continued his innings, crossing his half-century, further anchoring the Indian innings and keeping India in a commanding position against South Africa.

This ODI will be remembered as a landmark moment for Indian cricket, with Rohit adding another record to his illustrious career and the Rohit-Kohli partnership rewriting the record books.
