The second ODI between India and South Africa at Raipur on Wednesday witnessed a special moment beyond the on-field action, as Team India’s brand-new jersey for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 was officially unveiled during the mid-innings break.
The grand launch took place in the presence of Rohit Sharma, the newly appointed ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 tournament ambassador, and former T20 captain, under whose leadership India lifted the 2024 T20 World Cup title in USA and West Indies. Young batter Tilak Varma also joined the presentation, adding a touch of youthful energy to the reveal.
The unveiling marks the beginning of India’s build-up to defending their title at the upcoming ICC event. The jersey is said to feature refreshed patterns and updated shades symbolizing the campaign theme, as excitement grows with the World Cup returning to the subcontinent in 2026. India and Sri Lanka will co-host the 20-team global tournament, scheduled to run from February 7 to March 8, 2026.
The Team India jersey reveal was anticipated as one of the highlight moments of the Raipur ODI, adding to the electric atmosphere.
Meanwhile, anticipation is building for the World Cup fixtures, recently confirmed by the ICC. India will open their campaign against the USA in Mumbai on February 7, before facing arch-rivals Pakistan on February 15 in Colombo.
Rohit, expressing pride in his ambassadorial role, offered advice to current T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav during the schedule launch event.
“I would tell them to shut the outside noise, because when there’s a job at hand, how to focus on that… and I’m sure some of these guys are pretty good at that,” he said.
