Riyadh, Saudi Arabia : Today on Day 4, the wrestling rings at Riyadh witnessed a surge of emotion, grit and last-second strikes as codes like 97kg, 86kg and 125kg flipped outcomes and etched new narratives in the books of the Games.
In the men’s Freestyle 97 kg bracket, code 97FS delivered a storm: Akhmed Tazhudinov (Bahrain) locked horns with Rizabek Aitmukhan (Kazakhstan) — and the scoreboard read 15-3. Aitmukhan drilled three exposure moves in the second period, sealing the ticket to the final. Meanwhile, Iran’s Amirali Azarpira swept past his opponent 11-0 to book a showdown.
Switching to 86 kg (code: 86FS), the semis turned tight: Arsenii Dzhioev (Azerbaijan) edged Magomet Evloev (Tajikistan) 5-1, while Bahrain’s Khidir Saipudinov fended off Turkey’s Osman Gocen in an intense 8-6 exchange.
Finally, the giant 125 kg class (code: 125FS) lived up to its name: Iran’s might-man Amir Hossein Zare blanked Turkey’s Hakan Buyukcingil 7-0. The other side of the bracket had Azerbaijan’s Giorgi Meshvildishvili narrowly lose 7-6 to Bahrain’s Shamil Sharipov after a near-comeback and a late lost challenge.
As one competitor put it: “In this arena code X–1 = Zero Luck, only Heart.”
So set your headline font to bold: the finals on Day 4 are shaping up to be blockbuster coded clashes.
Stay tuned — tomorrow’s medal tally might just shift the power grid.
