Indian stars Abhishek Sharma, Varun Chakravarthy and Hardik Pandya continued their dominance in the latest ICC T20 rankings released on Wednesday. The trio retained their top spots in batting, bowling and all-rounder categories, respectively.
Chakravarthy extends lead
Varun Chakravarthy, who climbed to No.1 in the bowler’s chart last week, further strengthened his position with a 14-point gain, taking his tally to 747 rating points. His consistent spells in the Asia Cup have cemented his reputation as India’s go-to mystery spinner.
Abhishek stays on top among batters
Aggressive opener Abhishek Sharma maintained his No.1 rank among T20I batters. His quick-fire 38 against Oman and a match-winning 74 in the high-voltage clash against Pakistan ensured his place at the summit. Tilak Varma’s unbeaten 30 against Pakistan lifted him to No.3, while skipper Suryakumar Yadav also moved closer to the top five.
Pandya continues all-round dominance
Hardik Pandya remained at the top of the all-rounder’s rankings. The Indian vice-captain also made strides with the ball, climbing six places to 60th among bowlers after impactful spells in recent matches.
Big movers from Pakistan and Bangladesh
Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed, who had surged 11 places last week, continued his rise by jumping another 12 spots. His teammate Sahibzada Farhan climbed 31 places to 24th after a gritty knock of 58 against India. Hussain Talat recorded a dramatic rise of 1,474 places to joint-234th, while Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman re-entered the top 10 with a six-wicket burst. Batter Saif Hassan also jumped 133 places to 81st following his 61-run effort in the Super Fours.
Rankings heat up ahead of T20 World Cup
With the T20 World Cup approaching, the latest update reflects the growing competition among established stars and emerging players. India’s top three continue to shine, but the rise of Pakistan and Bangladesh performers has added extra spice to the rankings battle.
