The Sri Lankan cricket team perished for their 2nd-lowest T20I team total on Saturday, September 6. The Charith Asalanka-led side fell prey to Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club, Harare. Zimbabwe bowled the Lankan side out for a paltry score of 80 in 17.4 overs. Sikandar Raza and Brad Evans led the show for the hosts with three wickets each. In response, Zimbabwe won the contest by 5 wickets to level the three-match series 1-1.
2nd-lowest score for Sri Lanka in T20Is
Sri Lanka were poor with the bat and succumbed to the pressure created by Zimbabwe. Kamil Mishara was the top run-scorer for Sri Lanka. He scored 20 runs from 20 balls. Charith Asalanka was his side’s next best scorer with 18 runs. Meanwhile, Dasun Shanaka scored 15. The remaining Sri Lankan batters managed single-digit scores.
For Zimbabwe, Sikandar Raza was the best performer, claiming 3/11 from his 4 overs. Brad Evans also picked three scalps. He bowled 2.4 overs to clock 3/15.
As mentioned, this is Sri Lanka’s 2nd-lowest team total in T20Is. As per ESPNcricinfo, lowest score is 77 runs against South Africa in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. South Africa won that contest by 6 wickets in New York. Anrich Nortje was superb for South Africa, taking 4 wickets.
