Bhubaneswar : The BCCI is shaking up India’s men’s selection committee just after announcing the Asia Cup 2025 squad. On August 22, 2025, it opened applications to fill two key vacancies in the five-member panel led by Ajit Agarkar, whose term as chief selector continues until 2026.
Two selectors, including South Zone’s S Sharath and Central Zone’s Subroto Banerjee, are expected to be replaced. Sharath may take charge of the junior selection panel to fix ongoing concerns there. Former spinner Pragyan Ojha is a top contender to join the senior committee.
Applicants must have a strong playing record and have retired from cricket for at least five years. The deadline to apply is September 10, 2025, at 5 PM IST.
This timely reshuffle aims to inject fresh energy and perspective ahead of a packed cricket calendar and key tournaments like the 2026 T20 World Cup. Alongside the men’s panel, the BCCI is also inviting applications for four women selectors, signaling a broad overhaul at the top.
With India’s recent global successes, this change hopes to blend experience with new insights to keep Team India firing on all cylinders. The BCCI’s selector revamp could be a game-changer for Indian cricket’s future.
